Signatory Vintage was founded by entrepreneur Andrew Symington in 1988 and today is one of Scotland’s most important independent bottlers of single malt whisky. The company was an early adopter of the modern trends for bottling single cask single malt whiskies without colouring or chill filtration at 46% or at cask strength.

Signatory’s founder Andrew Symington was working at the prestigious Prestonfield House Hotel when he bought his first cask of whisky: a 1968 Glenlivet. Today, the Symington’s Choice series highlights Symington’s favourite casks from the vast selection housed in the enormous warehouses at Edradour, the Pitlochry distillery purchased in 2002.

The first Symington’s Choice whiskies were released in 2023 and the majority of the initial releases over the first two years were heavily sherried single casks aged between 25-35 years old. In 2025 the whiskies released in the Symington’s Choice range have been a little younger, generally 15-20 years old, though still predominantly from first fill sherry casks, and have included some spectacular casks from distilleries including Teaninich, Linkwood and Mannochmore at jaw-droppingly good value prices.
