A fascinating story today, as we announce the imminent arrival of one of Scotland’s newest whiskies from one of its tiniest distilleries: Crabbie's short-lived Chain Pier distillery in Edinburgh. Chain Pier was a pilot distillery in Granton that was quickly set up by Crabbie as a test facility after the construction of their Bonnington distillery was delayed for a year when initial excavations revealed the remains of an 18th century distillery and an 11th century mansion, Bonnington House. A little later than initially expected on our shop - Bunnahabhain cask strength 12-year-old is finally here! “Not all whiskies work at cask strength and many whiskies don’t stand up to full maturation in sherry casks. Bottling our 12 Year Old at cask strength intensifies the core characteristics of spice, cracked black pepper, cinnamon but not at the expense of our spirit’s character. In fact, it enhances it. Exciting news today, as we’re finally allowed to talk about the new release from Nc’nean distillery! Nc’nean Quiet Rebels: Annabel, named after the distillery’s founder and CEO Annabel Thomas, is the first in a seasonal series of new bottlings from Scotland’s first net zero emissions distillery.
