This Symington's Choice 24-year-old Auchentoshan 1999 came from single cask 4, a first fill Oloroso sherry butt that has given the whisky a beautiful rich hazelnut colour and yielded an exceptional 689 bottles at its very promising natural cask strength of 55.6%.

Complex with subtle dried citrus, raisins as I would usually like in a sherry cask but something (the smoke, grape skins ? from the sherry cask?) unwelcome reminds me of grappa.
