The Scotch Malt Whisky Society

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS) was founded in Edinburgh in 1983 and has become one of the world's best-known independent whisky bottlers. Specialising in single cask, cask strength whiskies, the Society sources casks from distilleries across Scotland and beyond, bottling each without chill filtration or artificial colouring.

SMWS bottlings are instantly recognisable by their distinctive labels, which use numerical codes to identify distilleries rather than their names. Each release features a unique name and tasting notes chosen by the Society's tasting panel. With thousands of bottlings released over the years, older SMWS whiskies have become increasingly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts.
