WhistlePigs oldest release to date is this 18-year-old double malt.
Along with the patient ageing and skilful blending they have here experimented with the old practice of malting rye. This practice was originally used by farm distillers who wanted to access the grain's starch to kick start the fermentation process and impart more floral and earthy flavours with the malted rye.
The mash bill of this glorious 18-year-old rye is 79% rye, 15% malted rye, 6% malted barley.
To finish things off nicely the bottle is accompanied by a large stopper and comes in a presentation box fit for the oldest bottling to date.
