Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Berry Bros & Rudd 70cl / 57.6%
Glenturret's little-seen heavily-peated spirit Ruadh Maor makes a welcome return courtesy of our posh mates at Berry Bros, who love coming up with esoteric gems like this. Ruadh Maor is peated to 80ppm, which is very high, and is more of a Highland style dry smoke and charcoal ash without the really iodiney / medicinal character of its Islay cousins.
This 12-year old Glenturret Ruadh Maor is from a single hogshead cask of the 2010 vintage, bottled at its natural strength of 57.6%, and yielded just 306 bottles.

Tasting Notes
Official Tasting Notes
Nose: This robust Highland malt does an uncanny impression of Ledaig; the nose offers fat smoky aromas of bacon, seaweed, some citrus and new leather, it’s remarkably coastal for a landlocked distillate.
Palate: The palate continues this theme with powerful peat smoke developing into tobacco, some rich fruit, over ripe blood orange with a distinctly coastal tang.
Finish: A long finish brings some oak with a little spice mingling with the fading ashy smoke.
A rugged Highlander that would make excellent company on a long hike through the Grampian mountains.
