Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers 70cl / 47.5%
Mannochmore distillery is much unsung, perhaps because of its austere, occasionally muscular style - see the spectacular, criminally underrated Rare Malts 1974 for details - or perhaps because malt fans have long memories and haven't forgiven it for Loch Dhu yet.
Either way, Mannochmore bottlings have been generally thin on the ground until recently but there's now a few indies starting to emerge, and that's a good thing. This is a small batch Mannochmore 2009 11-year-old from Morrison Distillers' Carn Mor Strictly Limited series, bottled at 47.5% from first fill hogsheads (presumably bourbon, they'd say if it was sherry) and should be a fascinating dram.
