This 1995 Isle of Jura single malt was one of an occasional and short-lived series of single cask and small batch Boutique Barrel bottlings released by the distillery between around 2010-2013. This particular Jura Boutique Barrel was a small batch of the 1995 vintage finished in a 'bourbon jo' cask (we still haven't worked out what that means) and is an excellent dram.
These Isle of Jura Boutique Barrels were something of a departure for Jura and their owners Whyte & Mackay, being bottled at cask strength without chill filtration, and their failure to catch on at the time was perhaps more to do with the elevated prices they were released at rather than a lack of desire among fans for these types of whisky, which remain among the best official releases from the Jura distillery this century.

Complex with subtle dried citrus, raisins as I would usually like in a sherry cask but something (the smoke, grape skins ? from the sherry cask?) unwelcome reminds me of grappa.
