An early bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label, produced during the 1990s and bottled at the original strength of 43% ABV. First introduced in 1992, Blue Label was created as the flagship expression in the Johnnie Walker range, inspired by the character and quality of the company's prestigious Old Highland Whisky bottlings of the late 19th century.

Rather than carrying an age statement, Blue Label is crafted from a selection of mature malt and grain whiskies chosen for their depth, balance and rarity. The blend has long been associated with stocks from several now-closed distilleries, contributing layers of rich honey, dried fruits, dark chocolate, gentle spice and a delicate thread of smoke.

Blue Label succeeded Johnnie Walker Oldest, a premium blend that stated it contained whiskies aged between 15 and 60 years old. There has long been speculation that both expressions were created, in part, to make use of exceptionally old whiskies whose natural cask strength had fallen below the legal minimum required for bottling as single malt. While never officially confirmed by Johnnie Walker, the theory reflects Blue Label's long-standing association with rare and mature whisky stocks.

This particular bottle is an early Taiwanese import, identified by its rear import label. It features the original presentation introduced at Blue Label's launch, including the iconic slanted label, square-sided blue-green glass bottle inspired by Alexander Walker's original design, gold capsule bearing the John Walker signature, and individually numbered bottle.

Early 43% Blue Label releases have become increasingly sought after by collectors, with many enthusiasts favouring them over the later 40% bottlings for their richer style and historical significance as some of the earliest releases of one of Scotch whisky's most recognisable luxury blends.
