An old bottle of Highland Park's excellent Hjärta 12 Year Old, which first appeared in 2009 - yes, Hjärta was one of the earliest examples of the Nordic-themed marketing furrow that the distillery has been ploughing so remorselessly for the last fifteen years or so.
Whatever your feelings about the Viking gimmick's diminishing returns nowadays, Highland Park Hjärta remains a terrific whisky - a cask strength 12-year-old Highland Park distilled in the late 1990s and matured in a mix of ex-bourbon and sherry casks before bottling at an exceptionally hearty 58.1%.
