Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Berry Bros & Rudd 70cl / 48.9%
A 1996 hogshead cask of Glentauchers, bottled as a 25-year-old by those thoroughly decent gents at Berry Brothers & Rudd, whose refined palates have the priceless knack of picking out special casks from unsung distilleries.
Glentauchers 1996 hogshead #3977 is a delicious melange of fruit, spices and varnished wood, but sadly the cask yielded just 73 bottles - so if you fancy one of these you'd be well-advised not to hang around.

Tasting Notes
Official Tasting Notes
Nose: The nose is initially floral, with walnuts, wax varnish and oak jostling for position. A little water brings out more balanced heather honey, honeysuckle and pear drops.
Palate: The palate is an explosion of sweet, ripe fruits; apples and melon with cinder toffee and strawberry jam showing on the back palate.
Finish: Spicy ginger and nutmeg linger on the finish. An excellent aged Speyside.
