Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Douglas Laing 70cl / 60.7%
Douglas Laing's Extra Old Particular (XOP) range was introduced in 2013 to replace the Old and Rare Platinum Selection as the company's main series for extra special casks of whisky that deserve prestige status over and above the normal Old Particular range.
This Glenrothes 1998 is the perfect candidate for XOP selection - a delightful refill barrel that somehow achieved 21 years of age while still retaining a whopping 60.7% natural cask strength. This is very rare, but casks that do this generally show an amazing intensity of flavour, and of course with a refill barrel you get much more untrammelled distillery character coming through. This will be a terrific whisky.
