Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky Bottled by: Gordon & MacPhail 70cl / 53.6%
Back In Stock 1-8-2024
A single cask Glenlochy 1979 43-year-old bottled in 2023 by Gordon & MacPhail for their Private Collection series. This was part of 2023's Recollection Series #2, a special annual limited release showcasing lost distilleries.
Bottled without colouring or chill filtration, this 1979 Glenlochy 43-year-old came from Cask 3309, a single refill American hogshead cask that yielded 141 bottles at its impressive natural cask strength of 53.6%. Glenlochy distillery was one of the less well-known victims of Diageo forerunner DCL's distillery cull of 1983, and stocks are now very scarce - as far as we're aware this is the first new Glenlochy bottling since 2015.

This is beautiful! Decent sherry hit, lots of dark fruit, leaning towards ripe plum for me. Hit of mint too which I find more in heavily sherried bottles. Very decent abv. Let's face it, if it was bottled by the (m) distillery in this presentation it would cost £300/£350 minimum. Will be treating myself to anoulther shortly 😁 drop of water makes this just too moreish!
