Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Douglas Laing 70cl / 40.8%
Douglas Laing have cracked out the fancy packaging for this Glenburgie 1980, bottled for the XOP Extra Old Particular series, and with good reason as it's a 40-year-old refill hogshead that yielded 233 bottles at 40.8%.
Glenburgie is more historically associated with Douglas Laing's fellow indie bottlers Gordon & MacPhail, but DL must have sneaked one from under their noses. This looks like a cracker.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Immediately delivers on barley with citrus peels then develops to a wonderfully rich, buttery style.
Palate: Mouth-coatingly thick and moreish. there's vanilla cream with a sweet malty character alongside chocolate shavings and ripe apricots.
Finish: The long finish reveals more of that creamy/caramel depth with a warming spicy quality apparent too.
