A great deal of Glen Moray's considerable output of Speyside single malt whisky goes to owner La Martiniquaise's blended whiskies such as Label 5, with much of the rest destined for standard issue NAS single malts or ill-advised wine finishes.
This slightly sad state of affairs is redeemed only when the likes of our chums at posh London wine merchant Berry Bros. & Rudd occasionally truffle out a gem like this small batch bottling of 12-year-old Glen Moray 2008 aged in small bourbon barrels and bottled at 46%. Young Speyside at its best.

Tasting Notes
Nose: It immediately offers notes of banana milkshake, praline ice cream, and marzipan with cherry and apricot emerging with time.
Palate: Dried banana and sweet wheat both show on the palate with waves of vanilla pods, sweet oak, and cereals.
Finish: The finish is long giving cocoa, rice pudding, and fruit salad.
Rob Whitehead says:
“Over the last few years, we’ve bottled a number of these splendid little Glen Moray barrels. This is no exception to the general theme of sweet barley and pastry chef deliciousness. Impeccably distilled, with all the clean, wholesome promise of a warm summer’s afternoon in the North East of Scotland. Nourishing, comforting, rewarding, all in equal measure.”

Yes, a lovely expression from Ardnmurchan. As young as it is (5yrs old I believe), it tastes twice its maturity!
Very well made, delicious & beautifully complex smells & flavours to savour.
