Lowland Single Grain Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Cooper's Choice 70cl / 49.5%
William Grant's Girvan grain distillery complex is one of the biggest producers in Scotland, and also makes Hendrick's Gin as well as being the home of the Ailsa Bay malt distillery. Despite all that, and the over 100 million litres of grain whisky made there annually, bottlings of Girvan single grain whisky are still uncommon, if not rare, although there have been a clutch of official bottlings.
A better bet for aficionados, and certainly better value for the merely grain-curious, is to turn to the indie bottlers who always come up trumps for stuff like this. Case in point: this splendid natural colour Girvan 1990, bottled without chill filtration at a round 30 years old by Cooper's Choice in 2021 from a single ex-bourbon cask 169111 yielding 240 bottles at 49.5%.
