Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Gordon & MacPhail 70cl / 46%
An outstanding Convalmore distilled in 1975 and bottled 40 years later in 2015 by Gordon & MacPhail for their Rare Old series.
There is hardly any Convalmore left now - just a handful of bottlings in the last decade and it's quite possible that G&M have more than Diageo. Someday soon the last Convalmore will be gone, which is such a shame as it is superb, almost unique whisky.
This almost 40-year-old Convalmore from G&M is yet another quiet masterpiece in the fabulous, historically important Rare Old series. Bottled from a refill sherry hogshead, which yielded 299 bottles at a punchy 46%.
Waxy, fruity and oily, this Convalmore 1975 is another elegant reminder of the lost Highland/Speyside style, bursting with character and complexity. A real gem of a dram from a distillery that never got the credit it deserved in its lifetime and has sadly remained in obscurity in the decades since its untimely demise.
