A remarkable limited-edition release from Compass Box, The General is a 33-year-old blended Scotch whisky bottled in 2013 from two exceptionally old and highly complementary parcels of whisky that had each been marrying for many years. Matured in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks, this extraordinary blend showcases the depth, complexity and elegance that long maturation can bring.

Bottled at its natural cask strength, The General offers a wonderfully rich and layered profile, with aromas of polished oak, dried fruits, dark toffee, Christmas cake and warming spices. The influence of the sherry casks adds notes of figs, raisins and antique furniture polish, while the bourbon casks contribute honeyed sweetness, vanilla and gentle coconut undertones.

The palate is full-bodied and deeply complex, unfolding with waves of rich fruit, old leather, treacle, nutmeg and mature oak. Despite its age and intensity, the whisky remains beautifully balanced, leading into an exceptionally long finish packed with lingering spice, dried fruit and old-world sherried character.

Created by Compass Box founder John Glaser, The General has become one of the company's most revered and collectible releases. Only 1,698 bottles were produced worldwide, making this a rare opportunity to experience one of Compass Box's most ambitious creations.
