Islay Single Malt Whisky
Bottled By: Distillery 70cl / 43%
The 2022 release of the Caol Ila Distillers Edition, which is finished in American oak casks seasoned with Moscatel sherry.
The Caol Ila Distillers Edition was a late arrival to the Distillers Editions range, making its first appearance in 2006 alongside Clynelish, both of which not Classic Malts but were in the short-lived Hidden Malts range. A short-lived Royal Lochnagar Distillers Edition followed a few years later, but the Caol Ila has been the most successful of the later additions to the series, with the classic peat and sherry combo always a favourite with whisky fans.

Tasting Notes
Official Tasting Notes
Appearance: Pale gold with green lights. Fine beading. Good viscosity.
Body: Medium.
Nose: Forward and immediately smoky-spicy, opening up to reveal Caol Ila’s trademark fresh clean notes. Once they appear, it’s as if someone has just put the bonfire out by throwing water on it. There is fruit too, subdued by comparison.
Palate: Firm and oily-smooth in texture, the taste sweet and mouth coating to start, with a full smoky attack on the palate, and intensely flavourful in nature. This concentrated smokiness is well balanced by sweetness, body and light-wood spice.
Finish: Long, smoky and robust; delightfully palate warming and spicy.
