A single cask Caol Ila 2012 10-year-old Islay single malt whisky, bottled by Douglas Laing for their distinctive Premier Barrel range.
Distilled at Caol Ila in 2012 and matured for 10 years, this was bottled at 46% without colouring or chill filtration. Just 400 of Premier Barrel’s ceramic decanters were filled from the cask.
Caol Ila’s clean, smoky spirit is particularly well suited to independent bottling, with its combination of coastal peat, citrus and maritime character showing well at a relatively young age. This small-batch Premier Barrel release is a characterful example of early-2010s Caol Ila from one of Scotland’s best-known independent bottlers.
Please Note: This bottle is a part of a large batch of bin-ends we recently picked up at a great price, enabling us to pass on savings to our customers. However, only one or two bottles of each product were included in the parcel - so when they’re gone they’re gone! Please note that due to the size and nature of this batch of stock, some labels and boxes may show signs of wear.

Aroma has subtle hints of sherry, vanilla and smoke. This is a dark, smooth and oily whisky - I noticed flavours of dark chocolate, tar, peat and salt. The real character comes through in the aftertaste - lingering peat and salt. Unmistakably Islay, and superb!
Bunnahabhain is my favourite range of unpeated whisky, there are many choices. My initial taste was a little disappointing but the high strength 8 year old whisky gave another choice. I would buy again on reflection.
