Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Douglas Laing 70cl / 46%
Caol Ila's spirit is so fine that it tastes great even at relatively young ages, particularly from refill casks that allow the pure, fresh distillery character to shine through.
This is a Caol Ila from the 2010 vintage, bottled as a 10-year-old from a refill hogshead (DL14552) in 2020 by Douglas Laing for their Provenance range at 46%. Sounds good to us - this young Caol Ila looks like great value.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Distinctly maritime with sea salt coated smoked ham, burning bonfire embers and rock ponds.
Palate: Really oceanic with a sweeter quality, moving to gentle smoke and Scottish barley.
Finish: Immediately detect a big peat style developing to oak and leather with blueberries and black pepper.
