Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 57.2%
Benromach's packaging upgrade last year has divided opinion, but we quite like its assertive, modern new look. Of course, the most important thing is what's in the bottle - and under Gordon & MacPhail's stewardship that's always been great whisky, particularly the Benromach Cask Strength series.
This cask strength Benromach 2009 vintage is no exception - big, punchy Speyside flavours at a hefty 57.2% (the old 100 proof) with plenty of sherry fruit and bourbon spices thanks to the vatting being assembled exclusively from first fill casks.
Benromach is an overlooked distillery but that surely can't continue with great value bottlings like this.
