Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 46%
The run of three consecutive 1990 vintages that Ardbeg released are widely considered to be the distillery's last gasp of greatness before aged stocks were all but dried up.
This is the 2007 17-year-old edition and it is a spectacular whisky. The epitome of that unique early 1990s Ardbeg style.
In the early 1990s, Ardbeg was producing a unique style of distillate that harked back the 1970s and 60s heyday but also had something unique to itself.
The bottlings that have resulted have no doubt been helped considerably by the fact that almost all the spirit was matured in refill wood which has retained much of the distillery character.
The style is typically coastal, super fresh with green fruits, creosote, pine resin, oily peats, tar, touches of honey and softer citrus aspects. This 1990 edition is one of the best examples of this unique era at Ardbeg.
