Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 56%
One of the all-time classics, this Manager's Choice Ardbeg 1976 comes from the famous batch of sherry casks filled on 24th November 1976. This Ardbeg 1976 was bottled in June 1999 as a 22-year-old, yielding just 497 bottles at 56%, and was a key moment in the ascent of the distillery's reputation into the stratosphere.
Selected by Ardbeg's then-manager Stuart Thomson, Cask 2391 was released without fanfare for sale at the distillery but has since passed into whisky legend as the first single cask bottling from the finest batch of sherry casks ever filled at the distillery, and easily in the top ten of the best ever Ardbegs.
An absolutely sublime whisky, and one of the greatest examples of a perfect match of peat and sherry. Sadly hard to find now but this is one of those whiskies that simply must be tried to be believed.

Tasting Notes
Stuart Thomson's Tasting Notes:
Walnut brown colour with an exceptionally intense nose bursting with the flavour of blackcurrant and morello cherries - with added water a rich Christmas pudding sherry note.
An intensely flavoured whisky to taste with a warm and dry mouthfeel. The finish is very long with a rich aftertaste of hickory coffee, smoke and liquorice.
