Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 48%
This Glenallachie 7-year-old Hungarian Virgin Oak was released early in 2023 without colouring or chill filtration at 48% as part of the third release in the distillery's Virgin Oak series.
This Hungarian oak is from the Zemplén forest in Hungary, where the predominant oak sub-species is Quercus patraea - a sessile oak with an exceptionally tight grain, making it tricky to cooper and therefore not often used for casks. This 7-year-old Glenallachie spent the first part of its maturation in American oak ex-bourbon barrels before an 18-month secondary maturation in the Hungarian virgin oak casks and should be a delight.
