A fascinating single cask blended Jamaican Rum from quirky indie bottlers Little Brown Dog.
This is a high ester cask strength rum comprised of five distillates from four Jamaican distilleries as follows:
Long Pond 2005 pot still Clarendon 2007 column and pot still
New Yarmouth 2005 pot still Worthy Park 2008 pot still
These spirits were vatted together in a refill bourbon barrel in 2015 to marry and the resulting blended Jamaican rum has been declared by Little Brown Dog as
'Possibly one of the best rums we’ve bottled, maybe even one of the best casks we’ve bottled to date', which is a big statement given the quality of LBD's output. This will be top class stuff for rum fans.

Nose: Star fruit, muscat grapes, caramelised bananas.
Palate: Gooseberry fool, lime zest, thyme.
Finish: Pomegranate, sponge fingers and all spice.

If you like your Whisky matured in a sherry cask then you will not be disappointed with this one, the flavours transferred from the Oloroso butts are unmistakably sherry, with a mixture of fruitiness coming through once you’ve added a slug of water, in my opinion at this cask strength you need need a good measure of H2O to really appreciate this very fine reasonably priced Whisky.
Definitely would buy again !
