An exceptionally rare Macallan M Black, released in 2018 as the second edition of this striking series and limited to just 850 bottles worldwide.

Created in collaboration with renowned creative director Fabien Baron and French crystal house Lalique, M Black evolved from Macallan’s celebrated M Decanter, replacing the clear crystal with dramatic black Lalique crystal to complement the unusually smoky character of the whisky within.

Matured in sherry-seasoned oak casks, this is a fascinating departure from the classic Macallan profile, combining the distillery’s characteristic richness and dried fruit flavours with a distinctive thread of peat smoke. Dried fruit, caramel and orange develop into a long smoky finish, balanced by touches of sweet almond and biscuit.

The subtle peat character is particularly interesting, recalling an earlier period in Macallan’s history when peated spirit formed part of the distillery’s production. Bottled at 44.8%, the 2018 M Black is therefore both an exceptionally luxurious Macallan and an unusual glimpse at a rarely encountered side of the distillery’s character.

Presented in its imposing black Lalique crystal decanter and presentation case with a separate crystal stopper, with each of the 850 decanters individually numbered on the base.
