Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery Bottling 70cl / 53.5%
A small batch 2004 Ballechin - Edradour's heavily-peated single malt - bottled as a 19-year-old in 2023 at full strength without colouring or chill filtration.
This 19-year-old Ballechin 2004 was matured full term in a pair of Madeira puncheon casks that yielded 1323 bottles at its natural cask strength of 53.5%. Only tiny quantities of Ballechin are made, and this is one of the oldest versions ever released, having been distilled in only the second year of Ballechin production. Madeira seems to work well with phenolic whiskies - this should be a big, characterful dram balancing smoke and sweetness.

An exciting deep rich brown coloured liquid.
A compote of fruit together with dried grapes is lovely on the tongue.
Nicely sweetened syrup is evident too.
Invested in two bottles but will be ordering a third.
Great warming malt enjoyed by two. (One aka Pig)
I know I bought a cask strength whisky but was expecting a nice taste but the strength overpowered the flavor, I found it harsh, but I am not a whiskey conasur. I also bought the secret Orkney signatory cask strength and that was very nice.
