Cask #4226 was a single refill American hogshead of 32-year-old Tomatin 1989, and has been bottled without colouring or chill filtration at its natural cask strength of 54.5%, yielding just 217 bottles. Tomatin is finally getting some of the recognition a Highland distillery of its class deserves, and this refill cask should be superb.

Nose: Dried mango and lemon peel aromas balanced by cracked black pepper. Rich green apple comes to the fore alongside subtle Demerara Sugar.
Palate: Sweet Seville orange intertwines with ripe banana and chili spice. Bright baked apples complement grapefruit zest and a hint of tobacco.
Finish: Full and slightly dry with pineapple and mature oak.
