Blended Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled By: Glenallachie Distillers 70cl / 46%
A welcome return in revamped packaging for MacNair's Lum Reek, the premium peated blended malt whisky from Billy Walker and Glenallachie.
MacNair's is the boutique spirits side of Glenallachie's business and Lum Reek is one of a growing number of serious blended malts that have started coming to prominence of late. This is a welcome development and we'd love to see more people take blended malt seriously - perhaps Lum Reek's 95 point score from the International Wine & Spirits Competition (or the Gold Medal at the Scotch Whisky Masters) will help.
This 12-year-old Lum Reek from MacNair's is a mix of Glenallachie with other Speyside and Islay single malts, assembled by Billy Walker and then reracked into American oak, sherry casks and French wine barriques to marry again before the final cask selection, blending and bottling at a hearty 46%, with no colouring or chillfiltration. A great value 12-year-old peated blended malt whisky.
