The Caroni rum distillery in Trinidad started life in 1918 but sadly closed in 2002, since when it has become something akin to the Brora of rum, with a new generation of avid aficionados eagerly seeking out the bottles from the last remaining casks.
This is a special edition Caroni Navy Rum, a collaborative bottling by La Maison du Whisky and Italian bottlers Velier, who released this Anniversary edition celebrating the distillery's centenary in 2018.
Caroni Navy Rum 18-year-old has been packaged in a replica bottle and facsimile label from old 1940s bottles of the brand, and bottled at 51.4%, equivalent to the old 90 degrees Imperial proof.
