This 12-year-old Cameronbridge 2012 was bottled at the traditional strength of 57.1% from a small batch of first fill bourbon hogshead casks, so if you like high quality, high strength single grain whisky look no further.
This really is atypical for my liking.
I usually love peaty full bodied whiskies.
This one is a departure, it is full bodied, but in a very different way. Not a hint of smoke, this spirit is very smooth, and the bourbon cask maturing has provided hints of vanilla and honey.
It's extremely well rounded and is a pleasure to drink diluted. Long lasting taste too. Really lovely!!!

Complex with subtle dried citrus, raisins as I would usually like in a sherry cask but something (the smoke, grape skins ? from the sherry cask?) unwelcome reminds me of grappa.
