A small batch of hogsheads of Teaninich 2009, expertly assembled by the crew at Berry Bros & Rudd and bottled in 2021 as a 12-year-old at a palate-friendly 46%. This will be a good session dram.
Like at stablemate Caol Ila, 2009 seems to have been an excellent vintage at Teaninich. Sadly indie malt whiskies from this distillery often tend to fly under the radar, which is a shame because they're almost always high quality and excellent value.

Official Tasting Notes
Nose: This is a beguiling and fruity malt with perfumed aromas emerging. Passion fruit, a touch of lime and polished oak invite further exploration.
Palate: The palate delivers waves of vanilla, yellow fruit and honey with some toasty influence.
Finish: A little liquorice kicks in to herald the graceful finish.
Ronnie Cox Says
“If you ever find yourself driving North from Inverness on what feels like a super highway try to stop off at Alness and see if you can fish for salmon in the morning followed by a visit to Teaninich in the afternoon. You might not catch a fish but you’re certain to have a fascinating tour of this modernised (2013) large distillery, the product of which are surprisingly rare to find.”

Yes, a lovely expression from Ardnmurchan. As young as it is (5yrs old I believe), it tastes twice its maturity!
Very well made, delicious & beautifully complex smells & flavours to savour.
Having been fortunate enough to visit Scotland’s little gem distillery twice in the past ( amongst several others) it soon became my favourite dram. This like all its predecessors is a pleasure to savour and a real treat . The only problem is the self discipline required to make the bottle last long enough and show the respect and gratitude to its makers in producing this and in my humble opinion all others from Scotland’s little gem.
