Pusser’s Gunpowder Proof Navy Rum is a traditional Royal Navy style blended rum produced at original Admiralty strength, also known as British Navy Strength, which at 54.5% is slightly different to 100 Imperial proof (57.1%) for reasons too long to explain here. 

After the Royal Navy discontinued its daily ration on 31 July 1970 (Black Tot Day), Pusser's Charles Tobias reformulated the Admiralty blend recipe in the British Virgin Islands in 1979 with Navy approval. Pusser's Navy Rum has long been a favourite not only with retired sailors but also with bartenders as its distinctive character lends itself brilliantly to long drinks and cocktails. Pusser's enduring popularity was reflected in its Gold Medal at the World Rum Awards 2020.
