Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery Bottling 70cl / 55.2%
Port Charlotte's SC:01 2012 is a 9-year-old Port Charlotte distilled in 2012 at Bruichladdich from 100% Islay barley peated to 40ppm and released in June 2022. Port Charlotte SC:01 2012 9 Year Old has been bottled at 55.2% without colouring or chill filtration.
For this heavily-peated 9-year-old Port Charlotte SC:01 2012, the cask recipe is complex, with a mix of sherry butts first and second fill American whiskey barrels that were each re-racked into first or second fill casks that previously held the delicious Sauternes white dessert wine from Bordeaux.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Sweet, stone fruit and a delicate floral perfume on the nose. Hints of smoke come with time. Initially peaches in syrup, dried apricots, honeyed melon and ripe pineapple. Brown sugar, vanilla-fudge, caramel and marzipan. Heady notes of honeysuckle and heather weave through the sweet ripe fruit notes. Peat smoke and warm toasted oak come through with a little time to bring depth and complexity to the dram.
Palate: On the palate, the warmth and supple texture of this dram elegantly grace the palate and bring together a balance of light peat smoke and ripe fruit. Another sip confirms both the beautiful viscosity and depth of flavour as beneath the delicate smoke comes earthy notes of leather and boot polish. The oak brings strength and sweet vanilla, chocolate and citrus to compliment the waves of fruit from the spirit.
Finish: A dram you wish would last forever, the wonderful marine minerality and earthy peat smoke linger on the palate with a citrus tang.
Character: Watching and developing this whisky over the years has been a joy, the influence of the Sauternes casks and the quality of the oak together with the elegance of the Port Charlotte spirit is a match made in heaven. The sweet fruit and delicate peat smoke combination once again result in a classic Port Charlotte expression sure to live long in the memory.

The value is there for sure and it is definitely worth a buy, but there is a slight punch to it, bordering ever so slightly on that sulphuric taste you sometimes get with sherry butts. Not as rounded or soft as I'd have expected for a 13 yr old. Still great though.
Linkwood 17 Year Old Signatory Vintage Exceptional Cask 100 Proof Edition
Beautiful colour. Fruitcake and chocolate on the nose. I could sniff it for hours. The palate is rich full and well rounded with no sulphur or off notes. With a treacly mouth feel (beautiful legs!) and a long silky finish this is one to cherish. Incredible value at £70!
An exciting deep rich brown coloured liquid.
A compote of fruit together with dried grapes is lovely on the tongue.
Nicely sweetened syrup is evident too.
Invested in two bottles but will be ordering a third.
Great warming malt enjoyed by two. (One aka Pig)
