Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 57.5%
Bottled for the 2021 batch of Diageo's annual Special Releases, this 12-year-old Oban has been bottled from ex-bourbon and refill casks, which confusingly Diageo have described as non-traditional despite those two categories being probably the most traditional casks imaginable.
Researching further, we discover that the casks were in fact 'freshly-charred', in other words, recharred - a relatively modern practice that is rapidly becoming industry standard, particularly for Diageo.
This 12-year-old cask strength Oban should nonetheless be a high quality dram, with the official tasting notes mentioning coastal seaweed and saline notes, fruit and peppery spices.

Official Tasting Notes
An original Oban from non- traditional casks that has a great deal to say for itself as it skilfully entwines the lighter and darker traits of this famous bridge between the Highland and Island styles of single malt.
