Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 43%
Macallan Fine Oak 30-year-old is known as Macallan Triple Cask Matured 30-year-old these days, a reference to the three types of casks used to create this range. The three cask types in question are European and American sherry-seasoned oak casks, and ex-bourbon American oak. Based on the label and box, this bottle will have been bottled from around 2011-2017.
Macallan's Fine Oak range got a lot of bad publicity back in 2004 when it first appeared, but over time people have got used to the concept of Macallan using ex-bourbon casks, and the best of the range - like this Macallan 30-year-old - are now appreciated as great whiskies on their own merits.
