Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Gordon & MacPhail 70cl / 43.2%
Well this recent release by Gordon & MacPhail is a game changer. A 1945 Macallan bottled in 2016 at over 70 years of age. Yes that's right, over 70 years old. This is incredible and I know we keep saying it but it still amazes us how G&M can bottle such an old whisky, especially from one of the most recognised distilleries in the World! We were blown away when we received delivery of the 1945 bottled back in 2013 at a mere 68 years old and now for them to top that with this just shows the kind of stock G&M still hold and how well Macallan can age in the cask. From our knowledge this is now the oldest Macallan ever bottled and just for future reference we will state (so far). What's more mindbogglingly is that it was drawn from a single first fill sherry hogshead at a natural cask strength of 43.2%. This is a great feat in Scotch liquid history and whether they know it of not for Macallan and Gordon & MacPhail themselves.
