Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Signatory Vintage 70cl / 57.5%
Linkwood is another of the distilleries whose spirit is too important for blended Scotch for their owners to waste time marketing it as a single malt. Almost the entirety of Linkwood's single malt output goes to tarting up Diageo blends like Johnnie Walker.
Kudos, then, to our friends at Signatory Vintage, who've picked up this 1997 hogshead and bottled it at 22 years old for their Cask Strength Collection at its full natural strength of 57.5%, turning out 230 bottles from Cask 7569.
Apart from the occasional (often botched or overpriced) official Special Release, it's only in independent bottlings like these and the splendid old sherried bottlings from Gordon & MacPhail that we are able to appreciate fully the class of unsung hero distilleries such as Linkwood.
