Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Syndicate Bottling 70cl / 46%
A private bottling of 14-year-old Lagavulin from the 1990 vintage, bottled by the well-connected but deeply anonymous Syndicate, a group of Islay residents and aficionados that managed to procure some truly outstanding casks of Lagavulin and Caol Ila back in the days when such things were still possible at reasonably sensible prices. The group's casks were stored and bottled at Bruichladdich distillery.
Lagavulin really shines at this kind of age, and this 1990 Lagavulin shows maturity and freshness in perfect balance with serious intensity of sweet, smoky flavour. This exceptionally rare bottling is one of the younger Lagavulins bottled by the Syndicate and is also unusual in being bottled at 46% rather than cask strength. A pristine, fresh young Lagavulin at a great drinking strength.
