Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 58.3%
Launched at the end of 2022, the 2021 edition of Kilchoman Machir Bay Cask Strength was subject to unfortunate delays, but absence makes the heart grow fonder and we're delighted it's finally appeared.
These cask strength versions of Machir Bay are much beloved and have been amongst the most popular Kilchoman whiskies since the inaugural bottling in 2019.
The formula for this cask strength edition is the same as for the standard Machir Bay, with 50ppm Kilchoman spirit bottled at a hefty cask strength (58.3%) after maturing predominantly in ex-bourbon casks, with a small but significant proportion of sherry-aged whisky adding character and complexity. These will sell quickly, so don't delay if you want one.

Tasting Notes
Official Tasting Notes
Nose: Opens with light, fruity notes influenced by our distillation. Being cask strength, allows for intense waves of fresh green apple followed by candied tropical fruits. Lasting hints of dry, earthy peat smoke become the backbone for this release.
Palate: Noticeably powerful at cask strength allowing for a concentrat - ed palate combining citrus notes of lemon and orange peel. As the whisky opens it reveals a dominant honeycomb-sweetness that makes way for a profile driven by milk chocolate, provided by a Bourbon-rich maturation.
Finish: A slight cracked black pepper spice combined with nutmeg. The oily, rich texture of this whisky delivers an increasingly smoky influence. Overall, a unique balance of heavily peated malt, slow distillation, and oak character.
