The 7th and final release in Jack Daniel's Gold Medal series, Jack Daniel's Gold Medal 1981 was a special edition litre bottle that appeared in 2006, bringing one of JD's most collectable series to a close after ten years.
This bottle commemorates the 'Grand Gold Medal' awarded to Jack Daniel's Tennessee whiskey in 1981 by the Brussels-based Monde Selection's Institut Pour Les Selections De La Qualité (now known as the International Quality Institute) at a special awards ceremony in Amsterdam.
Grand Gold Medals are a step above normal gold medals at the Monde Selection and are only awarded to entries that score over 90% in the tasting - interestingly, this Jack Daniel's Gold Medal has been bottled at 45%, which was the standard strength of JD until 1987.

Yes, a lovely expression from Ardnmurchan. As young as it is (5yrs old I believe), it tastes twice its maturity!
Very well made, delicious & beautifully complex smells & flavours to savour.
