Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
A single cask bottlings from the newly reformed Glendronach Distillery released in 2009 - this is from the 1993 vintage aged 16 year old. All releases are from Oloroso sherry butts, bottled at cask strength.
Rich sherry-rosewood hue.
The GlenDronach 1993 sherried and flawless, powerful but prickly on the nose with some heavy oloroso influence as well. Notes of raisins, dried fruits, and chocolate, are all evident along with fresh leather and a bit of nail polish remover, raspberries and more herbal notes. With water there are hints of a dusty cellar, some beeswax and very light hints of a stable.
It has good depth in the mouth. Spicy, fruity, slightly toasted. ThereÂ’s papaya and dried figs, prunes, and some hints of coffee.
The finish is very long and quite syrupy, getting drier on oranges and figs and less bitter notes in the end. Overall it is quite sweet.
