Glen Elgin Peated Finish was released by Murray McDavid in late 2022 as part of the indie bottler's new Cask Craft series of great value drams celebrating the artistry of cask finishing.
Bottled at a very approachable 44.5% this unusual Cask Craft Glen Elgin Peated Finish has an extra smoky punch after being finished in ex-Islay hogshead casks before bottling. This will be a treat.

This courageous cask craft of oak and spirit develops a style of Glen Elgin like no other; a character of mellow bonfire embers, zesty lemon and honey with a deliciously long and satisfying finish.

An exciting deep rich brown coloured liquid.
A compote of fruit together with dried grapes is lovely on the tongue.
Nicely sweetened syrup is evident too.
Invested in two bottles but will be ordering a third.
Great warming malt enjoyed by two. (One aka Pig)
I know I bought a cask strength whisky but was expecting a nice taste but the strength overpowered the flavor, I found it harsh, but I am not a whiskey conasur. I also bought the secret Orkney signatory cask strength and that was very nice.
