Named after a previous owner of the distillery now known as Buffalo Trace, George T. Stagg is the most famous of the Antique Collection whiskeys and is revered for its depth and intensity. This small batch 2017 release of 15-year-old George T. Stagg bourbon clocks in at 64.6% / 129.2 US proof, which is actually higher than the filling strength of the barrels - Kentucky's climate means that in certain parts of the warehouses water will evaporate faster than alcohol, causing the strength of the whiskey to go up as it matures.

Complex with subtle dried citrus, raisins as I would usually like in a sherry cask but something (the smoke, grape skins ? from the sherry cask?) unwelcome reminds me of grappa.
