A small batch Caol Ila 2015 9-year-old Islay single malt whisky bottled in 2024 without colouring or chill filtration by Signatory Vintage for their runaway success 100 Proof Editions.
This 9-year-old Caol Ila 2015 was bottled from a mix of first fill Oloroso sherry butts and bourbon hogshead casks, and clocks in at 57.1%, equivalent to 100 UK Imperial Proof in the old system. Caol Ila is one of the best Islay malts at this kind of age, and the sherry butts and bourbon hogsheads will have added plenty of character - this should be a star, and looks like a no-brainer at this price.

Because they give them bad reviews and it gives me more chances to get them bottles!!! This is absolutely lovely. Smokey and sherries aplenty. Just my realm.
The price to taste ratio is hard to beat.

Complex with subtle dried citrus, raisins as I would usually like in a sherry cask but something (the smoke, grape skins ? from the sherry cask?) unwelcome reminds me of grappa.
