Bumbu XO Rum is the super-premium edition of Bumbu Rum from Sovereign Brands, and arrives in a fancy matte black bottle with Bumbu's trademark hefty cork stopper.
Bumbu XO Rum is quite different from its noticeably sweeter spiced stablemate Bumbu Original Spiced Rum. For starters, the rums used are from different countries - while Bumbu Original hails from Barbados, the rum for Bumbu XO is distilled and aged in Panama.
The rums used for Bumbu XO are longer-aged as well, with the oldest rums in the assemblage said to be up to 18 years old. The Bumbu XO rums are aged in ex-bourbon casks before a finishing period in Spanish white oak sherry casks, an indicator of the brand's efforts to appeal to whisky drinkers.
