This Symington's Choice 24-year-old Bowmore 2000 came from Cask 800090, a single bourbon barrel that yielded a rather impressive for its age 172 bottles at its natural cask strength of 52.2%, which seems like an ideal drinking strength. Bowmore was on an amazing run around the turn of the millennium; these casks are now fully mature and are fantastic representatives of one of the distillery's best eras in the last 40 years.

Complex with subtle dried citrus, raisins as I would usually like in a sherry cask but something (the smoke, grape skins ? from the sherry cask?) unwelcome reminds me of grappa.
