Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: The Alistair Walker Whisky Company 70cl / 47.1%
A single cask 25-year-old Bowmore from the famed 1997 vintage bottled in 2023 at full strength without colouring or chill filtration by Alistair Walker Whisky Co. for their Infrequent Flyers series.
This Bowmore 1997 25-year-old came from single cask 2689, a Pedro Ximenez sherry hogshead that yielded 299 bottles at a natural cask strength of 47.1%. We've tried a great many 1997 Bowmores and they've always been excellent - the PX sherry finish on this should push it into the stratosphere.

Tasting Notes
Official Tasting Notes
Colour: Russet.
Nose: Burnt rubber / Sondico entry-level goalie gloves. Sweet peaty notes, but quite weighty, mingling with orchard fruits. Fall allotment vibes - pine needles and tree sap meet potting shed.
Palate: Excellent combination of peated, phenolic spirit and PX. Classic Bowmore sweet phenols - prevalent, but balanced. Sweet BBQ flavours, which contrast / combine both with those big fruity (and quite tangy) PX notes - blood orange, plums and cranberries, and also with those heavier notes - clootie dumplings, caramelised muscovado sugars and coconut and marzipan macaroons.
