A small batch Speyside Sherry Cask 12-Year-Old single malt whisky bottled without colouring or chill filtration by long-running London wine and spirits merchants Berry Bros & Rudd.
Berry Bros have been independent bottlers of spirits for decades, if not centuries, and their Own Selection range is always worth checking out, offering surprisingly good value for whisky from a luxury retailer. This renamed Berry Bros 12-year-old Speyside Sherry Cask single malt replaces the now discontinued Classic Speyside Reserve bottling in the Berry's Own range (which was a blended malt), so this is a real upgrade and looks like a steal for the money.
Bought this on spec mainly to qualify for free delivery (!) on another bottle and I’m glad I did! Not as sherry forward as some but a lovey, intriguing nose and a soft ish arrival on the palate. Adding a drop or two of water brings out more of the sherry and releases some fabulous fruity aromas. Nice long finish too. May well not be my last bottle of this! Slainte.
